500,000lbf Automatic Compression Machine for a Two Block in Prism Sample is a rigid frame unit with larger daylight opening capable of testing a two block in prism sample. The Block Machines are equipped with the same automatic controller and hydraulic loading system as the Rigid Frame (RF) machines. With highly rigid load frames and an enclosed test chamber, these models are ideal for daily use and frequent tests of high-strength samples. The advanced frame design exceeds ACI 363 recommendations.
The PC-based system controls the hydraulic pump motor using a variable frequency drive, which only runs the pump at speeds necessary to achieve the desired pressure. This reduces heat build-up in the hydraulic system to prolong service life. The rigidity of the load frame decreases the number of explosive sample failures and reduces the effects of minor sample alignments and consistencies, increasing consistency and repeatability.
With the press of a button, the machine performs the complete test in accordance with ASTM and AASHTO, including specimen contact, load application, preload and test load rates, break detection, data collection, and piston return. The only steps required by the operator are to position the specimen, initiate the test, and remove the specimen after testing. By reducing operator input, variations in load applications and rates and discrepancies in test procedures are eliminated.
Test specimens of the same type and dimensions consecutively without repeating data entry. The application of force and rate of load is precisely regulated by the advanced drive system using machine feedback. During testing, the HMI continuously displays force, stress, rate of load, and real-time graphing of load vs. time or stress vs. strain. When testing is complete, test laboratory ID, sample ID, and client information are stored for easy reporting. The machines have built-in USB and LAN ports and feature Wi-Fi connectivity to print, load, and transfer data.
Block Automatic Compression Machines offer quieter and more effective operation compared to older designs. To maintain required loads and load rates, electronic sensors send feedback based on programmed inputs and current test demands to the integrated electric motor and hydraulic pump. Fragment guards with shatter-resistant Lexan® inserts are mounted to the front and rear of the frame to protect the user and allow observation of the testing process.
Block Automatic Compression Machines for Two Block in Prism Samples come ready to test one 8in or 12in two block in prism samples. Units operate on 110V, 60Hz. Add “F” suffix to the model number for 220V, 50/60Hz operation.
