Gilson Screening Accessories

Gilson Screening Accessories

Gilson Testing Screens and Test-Masters are the industry standard for particle size determination on large samples of aggregate, slag, ores, and other coarse materials. Choosing the right screen trays and accessories improves accuracy while saving time and effort during test operation. Screen trays are offered as ASTM E11, ISO 3310-1, and ISO 565 compliance-grade trays in sizes from 5in to No.400. All trays are serial-numbered and supplied with a certificate of manufacturer's conformance. Available accessories include: • Screen Tray Storage Rack (TSA-156): protects trays from flange and wire-cloth damage, storing up to seven trays; fits on top of or below most lab benches, or bolts together for stacking. • Door Enclosure (TSA-157): a lightweight, removable fiberboard door panel with a full-width hinge and sound-attenuating liner to minimize dust and noise during operation. • Sound Enclosure: a steel cabinet with 1in of sound-attenuating foam; combine it with the door enclosure to minimize both dust and noise. • Dustpans: a standard dustpan suits many applications, while 3in and 4in deep dustpans (such as the TSA-1125 4in pan) add capacity; a two-piece stationary dustpan with adapter reduces nuisance dust, and an inclined pan continuously draws fines off into an external pan. • Hydraulic Clamping Conversion Kit: upgrades existing TS-2 models from manual to fast-acting hydraulic clamping for greater operational efficiency. • Speed Variation Accessory and Low-Amplitude Drive Shaft: factory-installed options that enhance separation of fine, sensitive, or low-density materials. • Digital Lab Timer: large LED display with a mid-cycle pause function and automatic reset to the set test time. • Clean-N-Weigh Accessory Table: a fast, convenient method of cleaning and collecting screen tray fractions for weighing. Accessories are available for the full Gilson screening line, from the TS-1 Testing Screen to the Test-Master and Porta-Screen.

Gilson Accu-Max Spinning Riffler (SP-245)

Gilson Accu-Max Spinning Riffler (SP-245)

The Gilson SP-245 Accu-Max Spinning Riffler accurately divides large bulk samples, including aggregates, coal, ores, and large starting volumes of finer granular material, while virtually eliminating the operator error and bias associated with other sample-dividing methods. With a particle top size of 2in (50.8mm), bulk samples are quickly split into 1/8 or 1/4 fractions. Samples that do not flow well through fixed-chute gravity splitters process more efficiently through the Accu-Max's powerful vibratory feeder. All contact parts are stainless steel for long service life and reduced sample contamination. The stainless steel hopper has a 1.8 cubic foot capacity, and the feed rate is controlled by a 6.5in-wide adjustable hopper gate that opens up to 24in for fine and large material. The adjustable vibratory feeder assembly tilts downward from horizontal to a maximum 10-degree pitch, with a variable amplitude controller governing the vibratory action for a constant, measured flow. A rugged 1/3 hp gear-motor assembly drives the turntable, and the stainless steel collection pans rotate at a constant 14 revolutions per minute to produce eight precise sample fractions. Each collection pan has a maximum capacity of 0.32 cubic feet (9 L), and the pans lock together to prevent loss of fines. The working components are mounted in a durable steel frame.

Gilson Clean-N-Weigh Accessory for Test-Master® and Test Screen Tray (TSA-167)

Gilson Clean-N-Weigh Accessory for Test-Master® and Test Screen Tray (TSA-167)

The Gilson TSA-167 Clean-N-Weigh Accessory provides a convenient method of cleaning screen trays and collecting their contents for weighing separated fractions. It works with Gilson testing screens, including the TS-1 Testing Screen and the fully enclosed TM-5 Test-Master®, which are designed for busy, high-production settings. To use it, position the TSA-162 chute and handling pan on the supports directly below the Clean-N-Weigh hopper. At the completion of a screening cycle, remove each tray from the testing screen or Test-Master, invert the tray and its contents onto the hopper, and gently clear all particles from the tray mesh so they fall through the hopper onto the handling pan below. The collected material can then be dispensed for weighing. The accessory can also accommodate a high-capacity electronic balance, significantly speeding up the weighing of sample fractions. The TSA-167 also serves as a useful aid for cleaning screen trays.

Gilson How To Clean Your Test Sieves

Gilson How To Clean Your Test Sieves

Test sieves are precision instruments. With proper storage and careful cleaning, they last longer and retain their accuracy. This guide covers how to clean and care for your test sieves. Before cleaning: 1. Clean new sieves with mild soap and warm water to remove grease and oil before running any tests. 2. Store sieves in clean, dry conditions. A vertical rack with separate compartments prevents damage and keeps sieves organized. 3. Use caution when oven-drying. Excessive heat can soften the solder or epoxy used in assembly and pull the tensioned cloth from the frame, so air drying is recommended. Choosing a brush: 1. Sieves coarser than No.4 (4.75mm): use a wire brush. 2. Sieves from No.5 to No.70: use a medium-stiff bristle brush. 3. Finer sieves from No.200 to No.270: use a soft bristle brush, with a light touch to avoid damaging the cloth. How to clean a sieve: 1. Brush the underside of the wire cloth in a circular motion, using light pressure to dislodge near-size particles. 2. Tap the frame gently with the wooden brush handle to release particles, taking care not to deform the frame. 3. Wash the sieve in a warm soap-and-water solution, brushing the underside carefully while submerged. 4. For finer mesh, consider an ultrasonic cleaner: immerse the sieves in a water-and-detergent solution and let the agitation ease out near-size particles. 5. Periodically inspect finer mesh against a backlight or white background, using magnification if needed, to check for damaged openings or perimeter separations.

Gilson Porta-Screen® (PS-3, PS-4)

Gilson Porta-Screen® (PS-3, PS-4)

The Gilson PS-3 and PS-4 Porta-Screens are portable screening units for quality control particle sizing of aggregates, built for high performance and durability yet light enough to use in the lab or the field. The PS-3 holds five screen trays plus a pan, while the PS-4 holds seven screen trays plus a pan, and the trays are quickly secured with easy-to-use clamp levers. Vibration and amplitude characteristics are optimized for particle size determination across many material types in the 2in to No.16 range, though separation of fine materials down to No.200 is common, and the high capacity of both units handles large bulk samples. Enclosed in the enamel steel case is a 1/4 hp motor with a synchronized rotating counterbalance system for smooth, stable operation. No mounting is required; the unit levels quickly with foot-tab adjustments while observing a bull's-eye level on the top frame. The digital timer features a large LED display, a mid-cycle pause function, and automatic reset to the set test time. Optional accessories include PSA-114 Porta-Wheels for added mobility and the PSA-312 cover, which bolts to the top flange to enclose the sample chamber and is hinged for easy sample loading.
