Holmes Enclosed Sample Splitters are suggested for samples of fine, dusty powders or where moisture retention is important. Holmes splitters have 60° chute slopes, feed guide, and enclosure, which is preferred for coal and coke applications to meet ASTM D2013 and D346.
An enameled steel enclosure reduces dust to help confine and control the airborne respirable quartz, silica, or crystalline particles. Two sample pans are included; extras are suggested for pouring to feed guide for repetitive splits.
Small Enclosed FX Series Splitters have twenty-four chutes and have stainless steel riffle chute, feed guide, and sample pans. SP-1017FX and SP-1018FX models have a built-in feed guide to introduce the sample evenly across chutes through an open vertical slot. Model SP-1015FX has no feed guide, and the sample is poured directly into the chutes.
- SP-1015FX has twenty-four chutes with a 0.375in (9.5mm) chute width and 0.24ft³ (6.8L) capacity. The model has no feed guide, and the sample is poured directly onto the chutes. Contact parts are composed of stainless steel. Dimensions are 11x15x22in (279x381x559mm).
- SP-1017FX has twenty-four chutes with a 0.5in (12.7mm) chute width and a 0.36ft³ (10.2L) capacity. The built-in feed guide distributes samples evenly across chutes through an open vertical slot, contact parts are composed of stainless steel. Dimensions are 15x15x22in (381x381x559mm).
- SP-1018FX has twenty-four chutes with a 0.75in (19.1mm) chute width and a 0.48ft³ (19.1mm) capacity. A feed guide distributes material evenly across chutes through an open vertical slot with stainless steel contact parts. Dimensions are 21x15x22in (533x381x559mm).
Large Enclosed SP-1050, SP-1060, and SP-1070 Splitters are manufactured with the same capacity of 1.4ft³ (39.6mm), and all have built-in feed guides. Lugs on pan top-ends fit slotted brackets on feed guides for pour feeding. Models with stainless steel contact surfaces are designated with an “X” suffix on the model number. Other models have galvanized surfaces. SPA-502 Dolly accessory has four 2.25in (63mm) diameter casters on the mounting base for mobility in the lab.
- SP-1060 models have twenty-eight chutes with a 0.5in (12.7mm) chute width and a 1.4ft³ (39.6mm) capacity. Dimensions are 17x31x34in (432x787x863.6mm). SP-1060 is constructed with galvanized steel contact parts, and SP-1060X has stainless steel contact parts.
- SP-1070 models have eighteen chutes with a 0.75in (19.1mm) chute width and a 1.4ft³ (39.6mm) capacity. Dimensions are 17x31x34in (432x787x863.6mm). SP-1070 is constructed with galvanized steel contact parts, and SP-1070X has stainless steel contact parts.
- SP-1050 models have fourteen chutes with a 1in (25.4mm) chute width and a 1.4ft³ (39.6mm) capacity. Dimensions are 17x31x34in (432x787x863.6mm). SP-1050 is constructed with galvanized steel contact parts, and SP-1050X has stainless steel contact parts.
