Gilson Manual Marshall Compactor is ideal for laboratories and production facilities that only require occasional Marshall testing or remote field applications where it can be mounted on a concrete slab. This compact and portable device is cost effective and meets ASTM and AASHTO requirements.
The compactor prepares 4in (101.6mm) dia. samples for Marshall stability and other asphalt property laboratory tests. A 10lb (4.6kg) stainless steel flat-faced drop hammer is positioned on the vertical guide rod to ensure correct alignment for every hammer blow. A stationary 4in stainless steel Marshall mold, base, and collar assembly is positioned on the ASTM-compliant oak pedestal with steel plate and secured with Gilson’s exclusive easy clamp system. The operator raises and drops the hammer by hand until the necessary number of blows is completed.
The MS-50 includes an oak pedestal with steel plate, a hammer support and guide rod, a 10lb (4.6kg) MSA-104 4in Manual Marshall Hammer Assembly, an MSA-100 4in (101.6mm) Stationary Marshall Mold Assembly, and an easy clamp mold holder. Order additional MSA-100 mold assemblies and MSA-104 hammer assemblies to increase testing throughput by preheating components.
