Methylene Blue Test Kit estimates the methylene blue value (MBV) amount of potentially harmful fine material present, such as clay and organic material present in fine aggregate. The MBV is simply a measure of the amount of reagent absorbed and is proportional to the amount of clay or organic material present.
The material passing the No.200 (75μm) sieve is maintained in suspension with distilled water by mixing it with the Magnetic Stirring Hot Plate. Methylene blue solution is titrated into the stirred slurry in increments until a drop of the slurry on filter paper shows a blue ring indicating that the sample can absorb no more reagent.
The kit includes 25g of methylene blue powder reagent, sufficient for preparing solutions for over 500 tests, 50x0.1mL special amber glass burette, burette clamp and stand, two amber 500mL solution storage bottles, three 600mL glass beakers, two glass stirring rods, 1L volumetric flask, and 100pk of 24cm diameter filter paper. Instructions for the preparation and storage of solutions are provided along with details of the test procedure.
Note: The Methylene Blue Powder Reagent is light sensitive and should be stored in a dark cabinet in foil-wrapped amber bottles.
Features:
- The ideal way to measure the amount of potentially harmful fine material present, such as clay and organic material
- Reagent in solution has a shelf life of 4–6 months and is light-sensitive. The powder form is stable
