Grinding Set is used with the Fritsch Mortar Grinder. Each grinding set includes a mortar bowl, a pestle, and a scraper. All mortar bowls, regardless of material, are rimmed in a shell of shock-resistant plastic to protect the bowl. Mortar bowls also have a high rim and a sealing lip within the lid to ensure proper sealing.
Agate is suitable for soft to medium-hard samples or metal-free grinding. Sintered corundum is useful for medium-hard, soft, or brittle samples. Hardmetal tungsten carbide is ideal for hard, medium-hard, or abrasive samples. Hardened steel is suitable for hard, medium-hard, or brittle samples. Hard porcelain can be used for soft, fibrous samples. Zirconium oxide can be used for fibrous or abrasive samples.
A stainless steel grinding set is also available, which is recommended for medium-hard or brittle samples, as well as cryogenic grinding of moist, fibrous, and elastic samples.
