Geotester pocket dial penetrometer set is ideal for on-site measurement of soil strength. It gives estimated unconfined compressive strength directly in tsf or kg/cm² when used with the standard 1/4in dia. penetration plunger. Four other plungers with 10, 15, 20, and 25mm diameters are included to give strengths over a wide range of cohesive soil types.
The piston is pressed into the soil to the calibration notch. The maximum force value is retained on the dial until released by a push button. The inner dial scale is 0–6.0 x 0.1 divisions in tsf or kg/cm². Outer scale gives total force over 0–11kg range x 0.1kg divisions, and the readings are used with the charts provided to estimate unconfined compressive strengths.
The sturdy geotester features non-corrosive stainless steel contact parts and has a large 2.5in (63mm) dial. The dial is user-calibrated using register plates provided and any reliable scale of 10–15lb capacity. The 2.5x4.5in (63x114 Dia.xH penetrometer comes with five stainless steel plungers in a 5.65x2.75x1.25in (146x70x32mm) WxDxH hard plastic carrying case with instructions, data tables, and register plates.
