Vacuum Pycnometers determine the maximum specific gravity in bituminous paving mixtures. The SG-16A and 18A models meet ASTM D2041 and AASHTO T 209 standards and are used with the SGA-5R Rice Shakers for Specific Gravity and Asphalt Rice Test.
SG-16A 2,000g Pycnometer ensures accurate, specific gravity measurements. This precision-machined aluminum volumetric canister is 7.5x6in (191x152mm) IDxH and tests a maximum of 2,000g (4.4lb) sample, sufficient for mixes with up to 0.75in (19.1mm) aggregates. A transparent vacuum lid, tapered aluminum lid with a capillary bore, 3/8in (9.5mm) threaded sink aspirator with faucet adapter, and tubing 3/8x48in (9.5x1,219mm) ID x L are included, allowing the canister to be used as a volumeter for determining the specific gravity of compacted bituminous mixtures.
SG-18A 4,000g Pycnometer features increased sample capacity over SG-16A. Its 7.5x9in (191x229mm) IDxH aluminum volumetric canister has enough volume for specimens up to 4,000g, sufficient for mixes with up to 1.5in (38.1mm) aggregates. Included transparent acrylic vacuum lid and aluminum lid with capillary bore are identical to SG-16A lids for use in specific gravity determinations of compacted bituminous mixtures. Vacuum tubing 3/8x48in (9.5x1,219mm) ID x L, quick-disconnect, and a 3/8in (9.5mm) threaded sink aspirator with faucet adapter are also included.
