3cm² Cone connects to HM-559A Static Cone Penetrometer inner or extension rods for determinations of soil compaction, soil consistency and bearing capacity of foundations and pavement subgrades. Penetrometer readings are halved when using the 3cm² cone instead of the conventional HMA-277 1.5cm² Cone. A penetration cone is required for use with the Static Cone Penetrometer.
