Fritsch Classic Planetary Mills perform fast milling by impact and friction through two-way planetary action. Units feature a simple, ergonomic design for easy operation and cleaning. Classic models are suitable for milling hard, medium-hard, soft, brittle, tough, and moist materials to a final fineness of <1µm, or homogenizing and emulsifying suspensions and pastes. Milling can be performed dry, in suspension, or with inert gas.
Safe-Lock clamping system ensures safe tensioning of the grinding bowls. Units feature a large rotational speed range with accurate display. The always visible, splash proof IP65 membrane keyboard allows monitoring of milling parameters even when the chamber is open. Maximum feed size is 10mm. Typical milling time down to analytical fineness is four minutes.
FT-60 has one station and mills sample materials using a single grinding bowl with easily adjustable counterbalance. Loss-free milling, even below 1µm, makes this unit ideal for milling and mixing small samples. This high-energy ball mill has a rotational speed of 100–650rpm and achieves a centrifugal acceleration of up to 29 times gravitational force. Milling chamber has built-in fan and is completely encapsulated. Sample quantity is 10–225mL and capacity is up to 225mL.
FT-52 and FT-54 are available with two or four milling stations. Units have a 1.5kW motor, a main disk speed of 50–400rpm, and achieve a centrifugal acceleration of up to 22 times gravitational force. Classic multi-station mills are perfect for fast milling of laboratory samples and can simultaneously process up to eight samples. Features rotational speed regulation and built-in overload protection, which reduces speed in a controlled manner and switches the mill off if the drive motor becomes too hot. Programmable milling, pause times, and sequences adjustable to the second. Sample quantity is 10–900mL and capacity is up to 4x225mL.
Grinding Bowls and Grinding Balls are required for operation and purchased separately. Multi-station mills should be operated with balanced loads. Bowls, balls, and sample volume should be consistent at each grinding station. It is recommended that fine sand material, such as play sand, be placed inside the jar of equal total mass and used as a counterweight.
