Penetration Pistons are an integral piece of field equipment used in California Bearing Ratio (CBR) testing. They conform specifically to CBR tests and meet requirements for ASTM, AASHTO, and Army Corps of Engineers (COE) methods. In testing, the piston penetrates the soil, and load on the piston is compared to penetration depth to determine CBR values.
BRA-30 is equipped with a 3/4in threaded male connector and 16tpi.
BRA-31 is equipped with a 1/2in threaded male connector and 10tpi.
Features:
- Designed to penetrate soil and base course materials for the determination of CBR values
- Conforms to AASHTO, ASTM, and COE standards
Included Items:
- Penetration Piston with 1/2in or 3/4in Threaded Male Connector
Accessories:
- BRA-32 Piston Extension Set for Field CBR Test is required for proper positioning during penetration
- BRA-33 Connector Set for CBR Test is a required component used to connect piston and extension to load ring
- BRA-34 CBR Transducer/Dial Indicator Holder attaches displacement transducers or dial indicators to the piston for measuring penetration
- HMA-609 CBR/LBR Data Acquisition Software works with the HMA-685D CBR/LBR Digital Component Set to record specimen information and display real-time test data, calculate results, and then prepare reports following ASTM and AASHTO requirements.
