Constant Temperature Viscosity Bath is designed for use with capillary viscometers but also adapts for general laboratory work requiring precise temperature control. It can also be used with Zeitfuchs® Cross-Arm Viscometers and Asphalt Institute Vacuum Viscometers.
The Viscosity Bath meets ASTM D445 requirements with selectable temperature presets and variable control options. A stainless steel encased thermistor in the Bath senses temperature. The 12x12in (305x305mm) Pyrex bath jar is lit by fluorescent lamps and viscometers are easily read against the white background. Bath Covers have seven 2in (51mm) diameter holes for viscometers and two 3/8in (10mm) holes for ASTM thermometers. The circuitry is in the base platform drawer on ball-bearing glides for easy access.
The temperature range is 20°–100°C and control is proportional to ±0.01°C. Users can set the temperature at any point within their ranges and make adjustments within hundredths of a degree. The 900-Watt unit uses a motor-driven stirrer, two heating elements, and advanced over-temperature protection standards. A second thermistor provides fault protection for over-temperature conditions. The unit shuts off if the control thermistor is disconnected, or if the bath liquid falls below the safe operating level until the user resets the limit circuit.
