Soil Cement Load Frames

Soil-cement requires a compacted mixture of soil and Portland cement to determine the strength of the mixture and verify its ability to stabilize poor subgrade soils for pavement bases. The compacted specimens are prepared using method. A with common moisture-density (Proctor) equipment or method B with the dropping weight compactor and 2.8in. (71mm) diameter molds.

The prepared soil-cement specimen is loaded into a Gilson Servo Control Load Frame for testing, the ideal equipment for a comprehensive range of soil testing applications, including soil-cement tests.

Servo Control Load Frames feature a 10,000lbf (44.5kN), or 20,000lbf (90.0kN) load capacity and an extra-wide strain rate range of 0.00001–2 in/min (0.000254–50.8 mm/min). The powerful servo motor provides feedback to precisely regulate the strain rates to within ±1% under load. Equipped with an advanced human-machine interface (HMI) controller, users can quickly set the desired strain rate and view current strain rate throughout testing. These rugged frames have 16-gauge powder-coated steel enclosures.

Data Acquisition Software, purchased separately, automatically records load and displacement data and generates a real-time load-penetration curve for calculating unconfined compressive strength tests.
