Load Frame has a variable strain rate of 0.02in–2.0in/min (0.508–50.8mm/min) and a 10,000lbf (44.5kN) capacity. This versatile load frame has a higher strain rate to accommodate the testing of asphalt and soil specimens.
When outfitted with proper analog or digital component sets and fixtures, this Marshall Load Frame meets ASTM and AASHTO requirements for performing Marshall, Lottman, Tack Coat Shear, SCB, and multiple soil tests. Strain rates or load rates are easily set with the three-segment thumbwheel selector.
The unit is housed in a 16-gauge steel cabinet with a durable enamel finish. It is equipped with a 3/4hp DC motor and controller to precisely control strain rates to ±1% of the set point. The vertical clearance of the load frame is 37.3in (947mm), and the horizontal clearance is 11.9in (302mm). Self-centering adjusting nuts make it easy and efficient to change cross-head heights. Corrosion-resistant vertical threaded rods are 1.25in (31.8mm) in diameter, and flexible boots keep dust and dirt out of the precision loading screws. An 8in (203mm) diameter lower platen is included.
