Mechanical Soil Compactors for Proctor Compaction Test

Mechanical Soil Compactors enhance accuracy, repeatability, and efficiency for compaction of standard and modified Proctor samples and other soil density test methods. Models are available to perform sample preparation for California Bearing Ratio (CBR) tests, Florida lime rock bearing ratio (LBR), or California 216 Relative Compaction test.

Mechanical compactors accommodate 4in or 6in Soil Compaction Molds and feature automatic counting of hammer blows and shutoff upon reaching a preset number. Indexing turntables position the mold for the next hammer drop, ensuring optimum distribution of compaction energy.

Gilson Mechanical Soil Compactor combines accuracy and convenience with up-to-date safety and digital programmability. The compaction mechanism automatically compensates for soil height in the mold with each hammer lift. This compactor can be used with Gilson 4in or 6in soil density molds, as well as California bearing ratio and Florida lime rock bearing ratio (CBR and LBR) molds.
Mechanical Soil Compactors produce reliable results. A selected number of hammer blows are accurately counted and evenly distributed for each soil lift. Automatic indexing positions the 4in or 6in soil density molds for successive hammer drops. An available model is configured to prepare compacted soil samples in specified molds for the California 216 Relative Compaction test.
4in and 6in Soil Density Mold Sets are manufactured by Gilson and available in two types solid or split. These proctor molds are for use in a variety of soil moisture-density relationship tests. They are all designed to fit Mechanical Compactors and can be used with manual Compaction Hammers. Sets include a mold, detachable collar, and base plate, and each component can be purchased separately. Soil density molds comply with the following ASTM test standards D558, D559, D560, D698, D1557, and D1558. They also meet the following AASHTO standards T 99, T 134, T 135, T 136, and T 180.
CBR Mold Set is Gilson manufactured and is designed to fit the soil compactors. The mold set complies with ASTM D1883 and AASHTO T 193 test methods. The set includes a 6x7in (152x178mm) mold, 6x2in (152x51mm) collar, and a base plate perforated with twenty-eight 0.0625in (1.59mm) holes.
LBR Mold Set is Gilson manufactured to meet Florida FM 5-515 and AASHTO T 220 specifications. Mold set includes a 6x6in (152x152mm) mold, 6x2.375in (152x60mm) collar, and a base plate perforated with twenty-eight 0.0625in (1.59mm) holes. Set is designed to fit Soil Compactors.
