Neoprene Pads for Concrete Cylinders

Neoprene Pads flow during compression to fill irregularities in the cylinder ends and assure load uniformity. Pads are economical and can be reused for up to 100 tests. 4in and 6in pads meet the latest ASTM C1231 and AASHTO T 22 specifications.

• 50 Durometer Pads meet tensile strength and durometer requirements of AASHTO T 22 and are appropriate for compressive strengths from 1,500—6,000psi (10—40mPa)
• 60 Durometer Pads are used for strengths from 2,500—7,000psi (17—50mPa)
• 70 Durometer Pads are used for strengths from 4,000—7,000psi (28—50mPa)
• 90 Durometer High-Strength Neoprene Pads are typically used when testing cylinders with compressive strengths greater than 12,000psi (82.7MPa). These high-strength neoprene pads do not strictly conform to ASTM C1231 or AASHTO T 22 specifications, as acceptance testing of concrete using neoprene pads is limited to 12,000psi (82.8MPa) and a durometer hardness of 70. However, these pads have been used to successfully determine concrete strengths above 12,000psi (82.7MPa), up to 15,000psi (103.4MPa), when comparative qualifying tests have been performed.
• Pads may be used for concrete strengths up to 12,000psi (80mPa) with additional qualification testing by the owner

Unbonded Capping pads are precisely sized to fit Gilson Steel Retainer Sets (which are purchased separately). Steel Retainer Rings hold tough 0.5in (12.7mm) thick Neoprene Pads. Rings and pads are positioned at each end of the concrete test cylinder to distribute compressive load forces evenly. Two Pads are required for compression testing of concrete cylinders.
